Fire Watch Services in Baltimore and Maryland
When a fire alarm or sprinkler system is out of service, during hot work, or while a building is under construction or renovation, a fire marshal, insurer or property owner may require a dedicated fire watch until the risk is resolved. On Site Police provides fire watch guards across Baltimore and Maryland, and we're staffed 24 hours a day. Our team is trained in first aid, CPR and de-escalation, and our leadership brings 25 years of law enforcement and security experience.
When you may need a fire watch
-
Fire alarm or sprinkler system impairment, outage or repair
-
Hot work such as welding, cutting, torch-applied roofing and grinding
-
Construction and renovation sites with temporary heat, open flames or stored combustibles
-
Special events where a fire watch is a permit condition
-
After a fire, while systems are restored
Your fire marshal, building official or insurer decides whether a fire watch is required and what it must include. Tell us their requirements and we'll plan coverage around them.
What fire watch officers do
-
Patrol the assigned areas, floors and stairwells
-
Look for smoke, fire, heat sources and hazards such as blocked exits, open fire doors and stored combustibles
-
Call 911 and alert occupants immediately if fire is detected
-
Direct responding firefighters to the problem area
Flexible coverage
Fire system problems rarely wait for business hours. Because we're staffed 24 hours a day, we can cover overnight shifts, a hot-work phase, or round-the-clock watch until a system is repaired.
Who we work with
Property managers, building owners, contractors, event organizers and venues across Baltimore City and every Maryland county west of the Chesapeake Bay, plus Cecil County. Large Eastern Shore projects are considered on request.
Combine with security
A fire watch officer can also provide a visible security presence. For construction sites and vacant buildings, pair fire watch with construction site security or mobile patrol to cover theft and trespassing as well.
